A mule path to the bridge spanning the Tavignano river
The Tavignano valley is one of Corsica’s most beautiful mountain valleys. Although the Tavignano cannot boast the lovely pine forests found in the Restonica valley, a deep gorge with a multitude of bathing pools surrounded and protected by rocks awaits you. Most importantly – this valley is the exclusive domain of the hiker.
Starting point: pay car park, 450m, either at the end of Rue St-Joseph or Chemin de Baliri in Corte: from the town centre drive along the main road towards Ajaccio, turn right before reaching the bridge over the Tavignano and then continue on to the end of the Chemin de Baliri.
Height difference: about 450m.
Grade: leisurely hillside walk (but exposed to the sun) on a well-marked mule path; numerous ascents and descents.
Refreshment and accommodation: in Corte.
Alternatives: from the bridge and along the left bank of the Tavignano river, an ascent can be made to the Refuge de Sega, 1166m (2½ hrs., Walk 64).
Maps: IGN 4250 OT, 4251 OT (1:25.000).
