Picturesque side valley of the Stranciacone
The pools at the start of the Tassineta valley are a popular and much-visited place for swimming. So it is quite strange that so few walkers venture into this pleasant valley. Unfortunately the former hiking path from the Bergerie de la Tassineta to Ondella waterfall is closed off.
Location: Asco, 620m.
Starting point: car park where the Tassineta stream flows into the Stranciacone stream, 949m (Giunte). 7km from Asco on the main road to Haut-Asco (on the right, signpost: »Camping Monte Cinto 2km«).
Height difference: 200m.
Grade: predominently leisurely path.
Refreshment and accommodation: restaurants and hotels in Haut-Asco and in Asco, campsites at the beginning of the Asco valley and on the road to Haut-Asco (2km from the car park).
Important tip: a protected area for mouflon has been developed in the region so the continuation of the path from the Bergerie de la Tassineta to Ondella waterfall and to the Bocca di l’Ondella is no longer open to walkers. No dogs allowed on the hiking path.
