Presentation
Olmeta-di-Capocorso is part of a second-generation natural zone of ecological interest, fauna and flora. Here you will find an unspoilt natural environment and you may be lucky enough to see a pair of golden eagles. The small marina of Negru was abandoned in the 16th century because of Barbary pirates, but it was inhabited in the Middle Ages. This small port at the mouth of the river of Olmeta has been repopulated in the last fifty years and today we can find an itinerant butcher and an itinerant baker.
This walk will allow you to discover the natural and architectural heritage of Olmeta-di-Capocorso, the southernmost municipality on the west coast of the Cap Corse region.

Road access
The road-trip from Bastia to Olmeta-di-Capocorso takes 38 minutes for 31.6 kilometres.
From Bastia you must take the road D 81 and after about 15 minutes you must turn left onto the road D 80. After about 10 minutes you must take the D 433 road which will take you to the marina of Negru. From there continue driving until you reach the car park of the town hall, where you can park your car.

Itinerary
After parking your car, you can start your walk in the direction of the chapel of St Erasmus. Just before the Calvary, you must leave the path to reach the chapel and then turn left, where you must take a winding path.
You must follow this path, which runs alongside the canalisation of a watercourse, for about three hundred metres. Then turn left again to reach the hamlet of Poghju, where you will find the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, the village washhouse and a fountain (the water is drinkable). Then you must walk through Poghju and reach the hamlet of Grillasca and the hamlet of Celle.
At the exit of Celle you must turn left and take the path which leads up to the chapel of St Erasmus. Keep walking until you return to the starting point.
