Road access

The road-trip from Galéria to U Ponte Vecchiu takes 12 minutes for 7.5 kilometres. You must take the D 351 road towards the village of Manso: you could park your car right next to the bridge and a restaurant.

Description

U Ponte Vecchiu is located in the heart of the valley of Fango, which was designated a biosphere reserve in 1977 and which holds flora and fauna representative of all regions of Corsica from the coast to the highest mountains. In the past this valley was crossed by transhumant shepherds. Today the valley of Fango is not very crowded with tourists and it is sparsely inhabited, even if the number of tourists visiting the valley has been increasing considerably.
This bridge hides a wide pebble beach where you can enjoy the summer sun in peace and tranquillity. Sport lovers can also dive thanks to several “natural springboards”: this natural pool is a great swimming spot, but remember to verify the water level before attempting the adventure... better safe than sorry.
After swimming, you can go kayaking or take a look at one of the many interesting sites which are located near the bridge, such as the Scandola nature reserve (this reserve has been recognized by the United Nations as a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983) or the Genoese tower of Galéria (built between 1551 and 1573 and restored in 1977).
