At the entry to the port of Bastia on a rocky outcropping, you can see the ruins of the Erbalunga tower dating from the sixteenth century. The Sacro tower is at the tip of Cape Sagro. The towers were built in the fifteenth century by the Genoese as part of their strategy against the barbarian invasions. The tower is now in ruins and only the cracked foundation and some remnants of the upper floors scattered around the surrounding soil are still visible.
