The Salt Tower (1897), located in Calvi, is a former watchtower which also stored salt. In 1934, the tower was attached to the citadel, and its extension now forms an archway between the Quai Landry and the Port de Commerce. The Salt tower as well as the ramparts of the citadel to which it is attached, are classified as Historic Monuments of Corsica.
