Only the remnants remain today of The Centuri Tower. At one time, however, the tower dominated over the Port of Centuri. It was one of many towers built the second half of the fifteenth century by the local people. Corsica was a colony of Genoa and owned by the private bank of Saint-Georges. Corsica was a target for prominent Barbary invasions (the Barbary pirates were from north africa) justifying the strong coastal protection.
