Sagone is a seaside resort linked to the town of Vico and the town of Coggia in the departement of Corse-du-Sud. The village of Sagone is located 13 km south of Cargèse, in the Liamone valley. Sagone was once an important town of the island. For several centuries Sagone was the seat of a bishopric, one of the six dioceses created in the island in the 8th century.
Today, nothing of this remains, but you can still see the Genoese Tower, and the ruins of the Cathedral of Sant'Appiano. This small tourist town is known for its pretty beaches but also for its secret coves, such as the Sagone cove, located at the exit of Sagone, after the Genoese Tower, in the direction of Cargèse.
