Rusio is located at 920 metres above sea level and is part of the old parish of Vallerustie, in Castagniccia. It is a mountainous village, one of the highest in Corsica. This small village is located at the foot of Monte Piano Maggiore (1581 m), which is located between the parishes of Bozio, Talcini and Vallerustie. Rusio is a good starting point for many hikes, from this village you can reach: Punta di Puriolo (1026 m), Logu Niellu (1178 m), Monti Rossi (1282 m), Minuticcie (1346 m), Punta di San Cervone (1451 m), Punta di l'Ernella (1473 m), Punta di Puzzola (1543 m) and Piano Maiò (1581 m).
This village has a large chestnut forest and a beautiful beech forest.
This village is part of two second-generation natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest: Hêtraie du mont Piano-Maggiore and Landes et pelouses sommitales du mont Piano-Maggiore.
In the village you can visit the parish church of St Mary (17th century), which is built on a rocky ridge at an altitude of 922 metres. The church stands on the central square of the village, where the Casa Comuna (the village hall) is located. Many chapels and fountains are scattered throughout the village.
Rusio is crossed by the D239 road, which ends in a cul-de-sac. This village is located at 35 km from Corte, at 72 km from Bastia and at 82 km from Aléria. Unfortunately, there is no public transport service.
