Through macchia vegetation to the rocky viewpoint above Ajaccio

This peak, a sheer rock face dropping down to the Gravona valley, provides a viewpoint par excellence. From here, you can calmly contemplate the hustle and bustle taking place in the fertile delta inland from the skyline and sandy beaches of Ajaccio.

Starting point: cemetery in Appietto, 380m, just before reaching the entrance to the village on the right-hand side of the road.

Height difference: D+306m D-263m

Grade: easy mountain walk on moderately well-marked paths; the climb to the summit is somewhat exposed.

Refreshment and accommodation: in Ajaccio.

Alternative: you can also ascend from the Chapelle San Chirgu directly up the ridge, but this route takes you over two fence gates: from the chapel go past a radio mast on the left until you have to clamber over a small gate in the fence on the right after a good 100m, finally keeping straight ahead up the mountain ridge, later climbing again over a gate across the path.
