Hut and summit walk with fantastic views above the Col de Verde
The Col de Verde is one of the most tranquil – and at the same time most lovely – hiking areas in Corsica. On both sides of the pass you are presented with wonderful beech and pine forests and panoramic two-thousanders. Particularly beautiful and varied is the walk along the GR 20 to the »memorial ridge« with its quirky rock statues and the simply equipped Prati hut. Fit mountain walkers will also want to add on the detour onto Punta della Cappella which provides a short adventurous scramble.
Locations: Ghisoni, 635m, and Zicavo, 730m.
Starting point: Col de Verde, 1289m.
Height difference: 1000m.
Grade: as far as the hut, simple but strenuous walk on a mostly steep path. The summit ascent to Punta della Cappella requires a bit of scrambling.
Refreshment and accommodation: snack bar on the Col de Verde, in the Refuge de Prati (simple bunks) drinks, cheese and sausage. Hotels in Ghisoni and Zicavo.
