A little rocky peak and two grand beaches with dunes
This little circuit route captivates the walker as it leads along lovely, easy trails in the admittedly desolate, but indeed, charming landscape of the Agriates Desert, and includes a joyful summit and wonderful beaches.
Starting point: restaurant Jardins de l’Ostriconi on the main road, Ponte Leccia – Ile-Rousse (N 1197), 500m east of the Camping Village d’Ostriconi.
Height difference: 400m.
Grade: easy, except for the rocky ascent route to the summit. Not during hot weather!
Refreshment and accommodation: restaurant at the starting point, Camping Village de l’Ostriconi at the Ostriconi estuary.
Alternative: a long circuit route (a total of 4½ hrs.): at the junction of the trail to Punta Liatoghju, continue along the track. 35 mins. later, ignore the path forking diagonally right which leads to a bergerie. 35 mins. later, a road forks off to the left through a narrow breach in the wall. Before this point, however, it is worth your while to take an excursion along the track and then, 5 mins. later, turn right via mere tyre tracks which lead to the sprawling, tumbledown shepherd settlement of Terricie. Now return to the breach in the wall and continue straight ahead along the road. 45 mins. later, cross over a saddle and, shortly thereafter, past another breach in the wall, the road becomes a path. 5 mins. later, ignore a path branching off to the right, pass through an abandoned shepherd’s settlement, and then cross a stream bed. 20 mins. later, reach Vana beach.
