Impressive ridge walk high above the Plateau Stagnu
This marvellous but demanding ridge walk should only be undertaken by experienced mountain hikers. Your efforts will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Cinto massif and of the west coast.
Starting point: Le Chalet hotel in Haut-Asco, 1422m, at the end of the road into the Asco and Stranciacone valley.
Height difference: a good 750m.
Grade: strenuous day’s hike on well-marked footpaths, precipitous stretches over scree and rock combined with easy scrambling (l).
Refreshment and accommodation: in Haut-Asco hotel with restaurant and bunks; restaurants, hotels and campsites in the Asco valley.
Alternatives: from the Bocca di Stagnu – ascent to the summit of A Muvrella (Walk 73), alternatively, descent to the Auberge de la Forêt de Bonifatu (Walk 14).
