Description
The Golo is the longest river in Corsica and the bridge of Altu is one of the most picturesque bridges which overlooks this river! This old Genoese bridge hides a small and beautiful sandy beach, a large natural pool and several pools of various shapes and sizes.
The walk from the car parks to the natural pool takes less than two minutes: it is a very easy walk, perfect for families with children. To reach the natural pools you can also take one path which runs along the left bank of the Golo – which is the longest river on the island of Corsica.
This bridge is very close to the village and very easy to reach: for these reasons it is very frequented during the summer season. If you are looking for peace and quiet then you should leave early or you can reach the wonderful bridge of Muricciolu, which is an old Genoese bridge overlooking the stream of Viru and close to an old mill that was used to create both flour and oil.
The bridge of Altu and the bridge of Muricciolu are part of the Mare a Mare Nord hiking circuit which starts in the village of Moriani, crosses the centre of Corsica and ends in the city of Cargèse.
