Description

Altiani is an excellent starting point for all hikers in search of peace and tranquillity, this village is full of waterways which are tributaries of the river of Tavignano.
This mid-mountain village hosts one of the most beautiful Genoese bridges in Corsica, the u Larice bridge (14th century). This bridge was built to allow the passage of transhumant herds between Altiani and Piedicorti. This bridge was classified as historical monument in 1977 and today it is closed to traffic to protect its integrity. A new bridge has been in operation since 11 July 2011.
From the car park you will find several paths which will take you to the river. There are several spots where you can cool off in peace and quiet.... Have a look around you to find your corner of heaven!
On one side of the bridge of a u Larice you will find a picnic area and the chapel of St John the Baptist (11th century), which is classified as historical monument. Until some years ago villagers celebrated the feast of St John in this chapel, but the theft of the saint's statue and the desertification of the village put an end to this tradition.
