Road access

From Ajaccio you must take the road N 196 towards the village of Cauro.  From this village you must take the road D 27 towards Bastelica: continue driving for about eight kilometres. You can park your car on an embankment near a bridge. Please be careful not to obstruct traffic, in particular during the summer season.

Description

The starting point of this walk is located near the embankment and it is clearly marked by a panel placed on the right. You must cross the road and take the path which runs alongside the Carnevale stream. This walk is perfect for families with children because the path is well maintained and well signed. You will not have to walk a lot: you will reach your destination after a ten-minute walk. But you should know that the path climbs a bit: you should wear a good pair of walking shoes.
You could take a swim in the natural pool that the waterfall forms, this natural pool is one of the few bathing spots in the Prunelli Valley (one of the many green lungs of the island of beauty, surrounded by dense vegetation). The waterfall is fed by melting snow from the mountains: you could swim in this pool but you should verify the water level before attempting the feat. At the top of the waterfall, you will find another small natural pool – please pay attention if you have children.
During spring and summer, the flow of water could be impressive. You should take into account that this spot is very popular with tourists, so you should leave early if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
