Pianello is located at an altitude of 810 metres and belongs to the ancient parish of Serra in Upper Corsica. At the foot of this small village, there is a chestnut forest, the oldest of all Europe. There are more than a thousand chestnut trees, half of which are between 500 and 800 years. This village is located in the heart of the Corsican mountains and it is an ideal starting point for many hikes: from Pianello you can reach lake Melo (1711 m), lake Capitello (1930 m) and the massif of Rotondu (2622 m); you can discover the high mountains of the Restonica valley, where the GR20 circuit passes.

Art lovers can visit the church of Santa Cecilia (16^th century), built in the Baroque style. This church was restored by a contemporary painter, who respected the original structure. Inside the church, there is a part of an altarpiece dating back to the 10^th century, which belonged to the chapel dedicated to St Peter and St Paul. The church is close to the town hall, where you can ask for the key to visit it.

Pianello is located at 30 km from Corte, at 38 km from Aléria and at 85 km from Corte. The village is crossed by the D16 road.
