This pretty little village overlooks the Bevinco valley. A few hundred meters from its famous church (San-Michèle-de-Murato) there are some pretty buildings.

The history of the village is marked by historical figures, like Pasquale Paoli or Prosper Mérimée.

Pascal Paoli stayed at the Monastery from 1761 to 1765, where he created the "Hôtel de la Monnaie Corse", the so-called Zecca, where the coins of the new State were produced. The first silver coins appeared in 1763.

French writer, historian and archaeologist Prosper Mérimée, made a stop here on October 1, 1839.
