Monte is located at an altitude of 850 metres and belongs to the ancient parish of Casacconi, in Castagniccia. It is a village surrounded by medium-sized mountains, the most important of which are Monte Sant'Angelo (1218 m) and Cima di Frescaja (1014 m). The village is very wooded and its vegetation changes with altitude: Mediterranean scrub in the area closest to the sea and chestnut and holm oak woods in the higher area.

Monte is part of two natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest: Châtaigneraies de la petite Castagniccia and Hauts maquis préforestiers des collines orientales de la Castagniccia.

The history of this territory is very ancient: archaeological finds dating back to the Bronze Age and the Roman period have been found.
Today, the municipality is listed in the General inventory of the cultural patrimony. Of the 213 houses built between the 16^th and 19^th centuries, 19 are part of the preliminary inventory of Corsica's patrimony. For this reason, it is the ideal place for art and history lovers.

Inside the village, you can see the remains of the Casacconi forge – an old metallurgical factory that was built at the beginning of the 17^th century and which is part of the General inventory of France's monuments and artistic treasures – and the old gendarmerie (19^th century).
Do not forget to visit the parish church of Saint-Sauveur (18^th century) which was restored in 1951 by the mason Joseph Mattei, as indicated by an inscription on the back of the main façade.
If you like walking, you can run into several chapels, scattered throughout the various hamlets of the village: Ferlaggia, Divina, Filette, Carogno, Angiolasca, Lerdo and Acumizza.

Monte is located at 36 km from Bastia and at 59 km from Corte. This village is crossed by the D10 road.
