Dramatic peak with views overlooking the east coast
The summit of Monte Sant’Angelu offers a marvellous view, not unlike that from the more famous neighbouring peak of Monte San Petrone (Walk 5). When weather permits, the view stretches from Cap Corse via Bastia to the east coast and the villages of the Casinca region, and to the highest peaks in the island’s north. You can ascend from two sides – from Loreto-di-Casinca or from Silvareccio. We prefer the path from Silvareccio – from the point of view of route finding, it is less problematic and the huge rocky summit is displayed from its best side.
Starting point: bar in Silvareccio, 661m, typical village in the Casinca region (access via Venzolasca – Loreto oder Castellare – Penta).
Height difference: just under 600m.
Grade: easy walk, but sometimes a rather indistinct path.
Refreshment and accommodation: bar in Silvareccio, hotels and campsites on the coast.
Map: IGN 4349 OT (1:25.000).
