Access by car
From Propriano, go toward Olmeto on the N196. At the entrance of the village, after the cemetery, take the road on the left, which goes up on 1.5km. You are already on Southern Mare e Monti (yellow markings). If you use your car, be sure to park before the starting point.
Itinerary
Take the left track downhill to follow the Mare e Monti. Once you've arrived to the last houses, the path climbs slightly (you will discover during this course an overview of the work done in the 1550s under the Genoese influence, when the plots were divided to plant the olive grove). You'll arrive on a track. On the right, you'll find a barrier. The markup then continues on the left. Bypass the private property barrier on the left. Mount Barbatu is 160m higher. After a sheepfold, climb to the barrier. You must stay in the enclosure, turn right in the middle of an oak grove, and climb up to the mountain, go through the breach on the right to get to the top. The view is breathtaking... Admire on one side the Gulf of Valinco, and on the other the plains of the Bas Taravo. To the north, you'll see the mountains Alcudina, Rinosu, Oru, Paglia Orba and a glimpse of the Tafunatu. The trail returns along the same route.
