Loreto-di-Tallano is located at 450 metres above sea level and is part of the ancient parish of Tallano, in Alta Rocca. This small village lies on the heights of the Rizzanese River, which rises between Punta di Quercitella (1461 m) and Bocca di Castelluciu (1141 m). If you like walking, you should know that from Loreto-di-Tallano you can reach the two peaks, but pay attention because the two excursions are not so easy.
This village has been occupied since the Middle Ages, that is why you can find several old houses with remarkable doors, vaults and lintels.
Art lovers can visit the parish church of St Peter (19th century), which was built to replace an old building in poor condition and too small to accommodate all the worshipers. Since 2006, this church has a new campanile. You can also find the remains of several chapels.
This village is crossed by a path belonging to the Mare a Mare circuit: this path connects Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano to Burgo, one of the hardest stages of this circuit. This path will allow you to discover the Piombatu bridge (located at an altitude of 120 metres) and the Altanaria ruins (located in Loreto-di-Tallano at an altitude of 580 metres).
Loreto-di-Tallano is located at 21 km from Sartène, at 59 km from Porto-Vecchio and at 88 km from Ajaccio. This village is crossed by the D69 road.
