Road access

The pond of Palo is located between Ghisonaccia and Sari-Solenzara, near the Solenzara air base (Ventiseri).
To reach this pond, you must leave the village of Ghisonaccia and drive towards Porto Vecchio for about six kilometres. At the exit of the village of Vix you must take the small road which goes to your left: pay attention because this small road appears suddenly! You can park your car at the edge of the road and near the path that will allow you to reach your destination, but be careful not to obstruct traffic.

Description

To reach the pond of Palo from the T 10 road you must take the well-maintained and well-marked path which will allow you to arrive at your destination and to walk alongside part of the pond of Palo. This pond is the fourth largest in Corsica, after the pond of Biguglia, the pond of Diane and the pond of Urbino.
This lagoon is home to many migratory and resident birds. Furthermore you could see some rare plant species such as the Kosteletzkya pentacarpos, some animals in danger of extinction such as the Hermann's tortoise and five protected species of bats. You can spend a whole day discovering the flora and fauna of this area, you can take a walk around the edge of the pond (the walk takes approximately one hour) or sunbathe in peace and tranquillity.
This place is frequented by some hunters and some fishermen but in particular by locals and tourists who want to cool off during the summer season – if you wish to discover the secrets of the area then do not hesitate to talk to the local hunters and fishermen!
