Road access

The pond of Casavone is located in the heart of Porticcio, near the Genoese tower of Capitello. From Ajaccio you can take the sea shuttle which connects the port of Tino Rossi to the Porticcio jetty. You can also reach the pond of Casavone by car: from Ajaccio you must take the T 20 road, the T 21 one and the D 55 one. You will have no problem parking your vehicle: you will find a car parking near the beach of La Viva

Description

The beach of La Viva is a beautiful beach near the tourist office and the jetty of Porticcio (a hamlet of Grosseto-Prugna). You can reach this beach thanks to the maritime shuttle and then walk a little to reach the pond – it is a very quiet and pleasant walk.
If you have children or if you don't love walking for a long time, then you should know that this walk is perfect for you because it is very easy: you could reach your destination in flip-flops! Your children will enjoy exploring the shores of the pond and observing the little animals which populate the pond: frogs, lizards, dragonflies...
Do not hesitate to visit the Genoese tower of Capitello which is located near the pond and which is one of the first tower built by the Bank of Saint George – many of Genoa's overseas territories were governed either directly or indirectly by the Bank. This tower was built in 1552 and was classified as a historical monument in 1991.
