Road access
From Ghisonaccia you must take the T 10 road for about two kilometres and at the Migliacciaru roundabout you must turn right towards the village of Prunelli-di-Fiumorbo. Continue driving for three kilometres and then take the road towards Pietrapola. Just before Pietrapola you must take the D 945 road towards Ania: leave the village behind you and continue driving for about two kilometres. You can park your car just near the bridge but please pay attention not to obstruct traffic.
Description
You will find a handrail that will help you reach the pools of the Abatesco, which is a stream that springs at an altitude of 1700 metres near a path that is part of the sentier de grande randonnée 20 hiking trail – which is described by the writer Paddy Dillon as "one of the top trails in the world" and which consists of two parts: the northern part between Calenzana and Vizzavona and the southern part between Vizzavona and Conca. The mouth of this watercourse has been classified as a natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest since 1985.
This site is not well known and is perfect for families with children. If you want to spend a quiet day away from the summer heat, then you should spend some time at the pools of Abatesco. There are several small waterfalls: teenagers and sport lovers could enjoy diving into the natural pools, but do not forget to check the water level before trying your luck.
