Description
Piedicroce is located in the heart of the region of Castagniccia and is home to several architectural treasures such as the Baroque church of the village and the ruins of the convent of Orezza. This walk lets you discover the four hamlets which are part of Piedicroce in the heart of a still savage nature. The path is well maintained and well signposted, the starting point is located in the village of Piedicroce (just follow the indications).
At the beginning the path climbs a little and passes through a chestnut grove. Continue walking until you reach the hamlet of Pastoreccia, which you must cross. Take the path which climbs up through a wood and continue climbing until you reach the hamlet of Campodonico, where you can catch your breath. Then you must take the path which descends towards the hamlet of Pie-d'Orezza.
Follow the indications to reach the hamlet of Piedipartino: you must pass the hamlet of Pie-d'Orezza, cross a stream by means of a small Genoese bridge, go up the road for about 350 metres and after turn left. At Piedipartino, you must turn left and take the path which descends in front of you. Then you can cross a stream that you must walk alongside for a while before taking the uphill path which will allow you to return to the starting point.
