Description

This village is surrounded by medium-sized mountains and is criss-crossed by numerous streams. The history of Volpajola is very exceptional: in this village the Genoese general Negri was killed by the troops of Sampiero Corso (1498-1567) in 1564! Furthermore, this village saw several battles between the soldiers of General Pasquale Paoli (1725-1807) and the French army.
There are a lot of streams that flow through Volpajola and that form many natural pools. For example the stream of Cipetto, a small tributary of the Golo river which crosses three villages of the region, forms a very deep natural pool which you can easily reach on foot because it is ten metres away from the parking. Sport lovers will find a rope which will help them to reach the top of a waterfall from which they could dive into the natural pool – do not forget to verify the level of the water before attempting the feat!
