From Ajaccio you must take the T 21 road and then the T 40 one towards Cauro. From the village of Cauro you must take the D 27 road towards Bastelica. Continue driving and park your car near the panel indicating the starting point of the path, near the Zipitoli bridge. Please be careful not to obstruct traffic, in particular during the summer season.
The Genoese bridge of Zipitoli was built at the beginning of the 16th century to connect the village of Bastelica with the city of Ajaccio. In the second half of the 19th century, when the RF 1 road was built to connect Cauro to Bastelica, the bridge was decommissioned. Today the bridge is classified as a historical monument and it is in very good condition although the cladding and balustrade have disappeared.
After parking your car you must take the path which is well maintained and well signposted: the bridge is only a ten-minute walk away. If you have children then be careful because the bridge is very narrow and overlooks the river at a height of over nine metres!
The water is calm and clear, perfect for swimming at any time of year. You will be in the middle of the nature and at the same time in the heart of history but unfortunately there are two electricity poles near the bridge...
