To reach the bridge of Truggia from the village of Vico, you must take the D 423 road towards the pass of St Anthony. Continue driving until you reach the monastery of St Francis and then take the D 1 road. Leave the pass of St Anthony behind you and continue driving for about 15 kilometres. You can park your car near the bridge of Truggia but be careful not to obstruct traffic, in particular during the summer season.
The bridge of Truggia overlooks the river of Liamone. According to an ancient legend, the Liamone made a pact with the devil to win a challenge against its two brothers: the river of Golo and the river of Tavignano. The Devil helped the Liamone because this river swore to give him a soul each year. Until the end of time, the Liamone or one of its tributaries must kill someone in honour of Satana. The origin of this legend is easy to understand: the Liamone is the most impetuous river in Corsica and local people imagined this frightening story to explain this phenomenon.
The bridge of Truggia overlooks several natural pools that you can reach easily from the road: you must take a small path which is located a hundred metres from the bridge (you will reach the natural pool in two minutes). Upstream from the bridge you will also find a small beach. Please pay attention because this river could be impetuous, even during the summer period.
