Road access

From the roundabout which is located at the exit of the village of Petreto-Bicchisano, you must drive towards Ajaccio for about four kilometres and then you must take the road N 2196. After about one hundred metres, you must take the road descending on the left, just under the road bridge which was built to replace the old Genoese bridge of Abra. You could park your car near the Genoese bridge.

Description

The Genoese bridge of Abra was built at the beginning of the 15th century and was classified as a historical monument in 1992. This bridge was very important for the island's pastoral economy because it helped shepherds cross the Taravo, the third longest river in Corsica after the Golo and the Tavignano.
This old bridge overlooks a natural pool that you can easily reach: you just have to take the path which starts under the road bridge and which runs along the left bank of the Taravo. The path is easy to find and well maintained: you will reach your destination after a fifteen-minute walk. You should wear a good pair of shoes because the path can be slippery because of the vegetation.
The natural pool is quite calm and clear: it is perfect for families with children. You could sunbathe or take a nap while children could swim and explore the area.
