Description
The plateau of Coscione (1500 m) is an ancient glacial lake. Today, this plateau is home to exceptional flora and fauna. The landscapes are incredible: it is an immense mountainous plateau which is rocky and green at the same time, crossed by a multitude of small streams which form pools of water called pozzine in Corsican language.
This is an easy walk, even for families with children but you must pay attention because the path is not well signposted. The path starts behind the old ski centre – do not take the path to the left which leads down towards the stream. You will see several animal during this walk: cows, wild pigs or horses: be careful and do not feed the animals!
The path climbs gently and runs alongside a small stream. Do not hesitate to ford the small streams which cross the path and continue walking until you reach the plateau. Please do not walk on the pozzine because they are very fragile and home to rare plants.
