Presentation
Pino is a very peaceful village, perfect for nature lovers: it is part of two natural zones of ecological interest, fauna and flora. The architectural heritage of this village is very picturesque and this walk is thought to allow you to discover the most remarkable elements of Pino, such as the Tower of Scalo (16th century) and the Convent of St Francis (15th century).

Road access
The road-trip from Pino to Bastia takes 53 minutes for 45.9 kilometres. You must take the D 80 and then the D 180. You can park your car at the edge of the road, after having passed the centre of the village, but please be careful not to obstruct the traffic.

Itinerary
The starting point is near an electricity company transformer (EDF – Électricité de France) which you can reach after having parked your car. Go down the stairs and turn left, you must cross the stream which you can see in front of you.
A shady and well-marked footpath takes you to the beach of Scalo – a pebble beach which in the past was accessible only by ladder and which in the 19th century was a thriving fishing port where a dozen boats exported wine, cedar, cattle and coal and imported grain, salt, textiles and various utensils. Before reaching the beach of Scalo, you can take a look at the convent of St Francis and at the remains of the tower which served to control the territory.
From the marina you must take a road which has recently been resurfaced, but at the first bend you must take the asphalt road that you can see on your left. When you reach the reservoir, you must turn right to return to the village. Keep climbing to return to the starting point.
