The mouflon is a kind of wild sheep. Its large spiral horns are characteristic of bighorn mountain sheep. There are many species, but the Corsican mouflon sheep is similar to that found in the rest of Europe. The sheep live in small herds in the mountainous regions. They are often difficult to see because they are quite skittish, but they have been spotted in the Cinto and Bavella nature reserves. Some mouflon are also domesticated to help preserve the species.
