The central location of Corte makes this city a good starting point for visiting many villages and for some of the most famous excursions on the island.
To reach the starting point of this walk you can park your car at the railway station.
Description
The remains of the complex of St John the Baptist (which is made up of a pre-Romanesque church dating back to the 10th century and of a baptistery dating back to the 13th century) are located at an altitude of 430 metres to the south-east of Corte. The baptistery is better preserved than the church, of which only the apse remains.
This walk will allow you to discover a place full of charm in the midst of nature: good shoes are necessary, even if this walk is perfect for families with children.
If you like mushrooms, then you must know that this area is known to be a paradise for mycologists from all over Europe: five hundred different species of mushrooms have already been identified here. Pay attention because the girolle can be confused with the jack-o'-lantern mushroom, which is poisonous.
