Road access
The road-trip from Ajaccio to Sari-d'Orcino takes 49 minutes for 34.5 km. You must take the D 11 B road and the D 1 one. You can park your car after A Casa di a Memoria which is an ethnographic museum displaying many regional objects which date back to different historical periods, from prehistory to the present day (hamlet of Acqua in Sù).
Description
The path is well maintained and well-marked. In general this walk is quite easy even if you must wear good walking shoes and have a good supply of water. You should know that the height difference is quite significant: if you have children or if you are not well-trained you will need to make few stops.
The starting point of this walk is marked in yellow and is located right next to the museum A Casa di a Memoria. You must take the concrete ramp until you reach a large reservoir where the track turns into a path. After about 30 minutes of walking, you must pass through a chestnut grove. You will notice that the vegetation becomes less and less dense: you could see the gulf of Sagone, the pass of San Bastianu, the village of Casaglione...
Do not hesitate to cross the small stream in front of you, near a burnt trunk. The path is easy to follow but it is rather stony: be careful not to slip and keep walking until you reach the pass of Vergio – which is one of the four great passes of the island. Catch your breath and take the path to your right: ignore the path going downhill to the left.
At an altitude of 900 metres (about 2 hours and 40 minutes after the start of the walk), you must leave the path and turn to your right to begin the last ascent to Punta San Damianu, on which there are the ruins of a chapel dedicated to Santa Reparata.
Go back along the same itinerary.
