Hermann's tortoise, or turtle of the Moors, lives along the Mediterranean coast around Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, Spain and France. It is a kind of relatively small turtle, and recognizable by its yellow and black stripes on its breastplate. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most endangered species of turtles, classified by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) "at risk".
