Road access
The road trip from Ajaccio to Cargèse takes 1 hour and 9 minutes for 57.9 kilometres - you must take the D 11B road and the D 81 one. From Cargèse you must take the road to Paomia (D 181 road) and you must leave behind you the gendarmerie. Park your car where you can but please pay attention not to obstruct traffic, in particular during the summer season.

Description
Corsica is full of prehistoric sites: carved stones, menhirs, dolmens, monoliths... Thanks to this short walk you can discover the statue-menhir of U Scumunicatu, which is located in the region of Cargèse.
After having parked your car, you must take one path which is part of the Tra Mare E Monti circuit. This path is well maintained and marked.
The statue-menhir was discovered by chance (during some agricultural work on the banks of the Bubbia stream). The statue was broken into three parts, but it was restored under the supervision of the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) and transported to the place where you can see the statue today. Do not hesitate to take a look at the architectural heritage of Cargèse, such as the churches and the Genoese towers.
