Road access

From Porto-Vecchio you must reach the roundabout near the Arutoli campsite and take the D 368 road. Continue driving towards the village of Zonza for six kilometres. You can park your car on an embankment on your left but be careful not to obstruct traffic, in particular during the summer season.

Description

To reach the river of Bala (which has its source in Porto-Vecchio, close to the village of Ospédale) you must take a path which starts from the embankment and which is often hidden by the typical vegetation of the island. This path descends steeply in particular at the beginning – you should wear good shoes and have a good supply of water. Continue walking until you will see a fork:  you must turn left until you reach the swimming pools after about fifteen minutes' walk.
You will find three deep natural pools that are surrounded by beautiful pink granite rocks that create enchanting plays of light among the transparent waters. Sport lovers can dive into the pools from a height of five metres, but you should verify the water level before attempting the feat. The nature of this area is relatively wild: it is the ideal place if you are looking for tranquillity and for some fresh air. During the summer season the Bela stream is very popular with locals and tourists, so you should leave early if you want to take advantage of the three natural pools in peace and quiet!
