Presentation
The ancient harbour of Albo was often attacked by Barbary pirates in the 15^th and 16^th centuries. In 1588, the king of Ottoman Algeria Hassan Pasha landed in Ogliastro with ninety-two galleys and ravaged the area, capturing around sixty people. After this raid, the marina of Albo was abandoned for a long time: it is only since the 20^th century that this hamlet has been inhabited again.
This walk will allow you to discover the natural and architectural heritage of Ogliastro: the remains of the chapel of St Michael (10^th century), the church of St Dominic (15^th century) and the mill of Guadu Grande.

Road access
The road-trip from Bastia to Ogliastro takes 43 minutes for 36.7 kilometres.
From Bastia you must take the road D 81 and then the road D 80 until you reach the marina of Albo, which is part of the municipality of Ogliastro. There you will find a parking space for your car.

Itinerary
From the marina of Albo you must take the well-marked and well-maintained path which will take you to the Torre del Greco – a Genoese tower built in 1562 to protect the marina of Albo and which was occupied by French troops in 1768. From here you must take the path which runs along the D 80 road and which leads to the ruins of the chapel of St Michael.
Keep walking along the path on your left, which will take you to the church of St Dominic and to the mill of Guadu Grande, which you can visit.
Cross the bridge, then turn left to reach the hamlet of Ogliastru Suttanu where you can visit the church of the Annunciation. Keep walking until you reach the fountain of Liccioli at the entrance of Ogliastru Suttanu. Then walk back along the road which passes by the funtana vechja and a 19^th-century mill which is fed by the water of the Guadu Grande.
