Presentation
The cascade du voile de la mariée, located on the heights of the village of Bocognano, is the highest waterfall on the island. This magnificent waterfall forms some well-shaded natural pools, which are perfect for cooling off during the summer season. After this short walk, you should visit the village of Bocognano, where you will find the parish church of St Lucy (which has a painting classified historical monument), the Palazzu di Bucugnà (the only building on the island which was built by a direct order of Napoleon I) and the funtanone (the village's monumental fountain).
Road access
The village of Bocognano is situated halfway between Ajaccio and Corte, at an altitude of 1163 metres. If you are coming from Ajaccio, you should continue in the direction of Bastia and, after about thirty kilometres, you will find the roundabout at the entrance to Bocognano where you should take the first exit on the right. After five minutes (3.5 kilometres) you will run into the bridge of Salicio, where you can park your car.
Itinerary
The start is marked by a panel A piscia di a sposa, do not hesitate to open the wooden gate and start climbing a well-marked path. Be careful because the ground is quite slippery and, even if this walk is very easy, you will need a good pair of shoes. After few minutes of walking, you can take a short break and enjoy the view of the waterfall below. If you want to reach the natural pools formed by the waterfall itself, then you should take the path directly in front of you and walk downhill for 3-4 minutes at the most.
