Road access

From Aléria you must take the T 10 road northwards. Keep driving for about four kilometres and then take the D 16 road towards the village of Tox, the village of Moïta and the village of Matra. Leave the three villages behind you and continue driving on the same road until you will reach the bridge which overlooks the Bravone stream: you could car your park on an embankment right next to the bridge.

Description

To reach the waterfall you must walk along the Bravone for about ten minutes, along the left side of the river from below: you will have no problem reaching your destination.
This watercourse has a high concentration of arsenic because of the arsenic mines located upstream of the village of Matra. These mines were exploited from 1908 to 1946 and in particular during the First World War, when arsenic was in great demand for the creation of toxic gases. This high concentration of arsenic has unfortunately had an impact on the biodiversity of the Bravone stream: according to some scientific studies between fifteen and nineteen species of invertebrates have already disappeared.
The Bravone waterfall and its natural pool are not affected by arsenic pollution because they are located upstream from the arsenic mines: you can enjoy this bathing spot in peace. Sport lovers will have fun diving into the deep natural pool but please do not forget to check the water level!
