This fruit represented Nonza's wealth until the nineteenth century, with some 400 tons which were exported to France. The ecomuseum offers not only to rediscover the past of this fruit, but also its future! Indeed, if almonds, chestnuts or hazelnuts found their way to success, why not the citron? The municipality of Nonza therefore aims at reviving the cultivation of citron trees, whose harvest takes place from September to November. The terraces around the village will be then turned into plantations. |
