Fabulous circular walk on the idyllic southwest coast
A picture-book coastal walk: a gentle ascent at first up to a Genoese tower in a picturesque location and then a leisurely walk on the promenade along the bizarre coastline at the end of which you are greeted by a superb sandy beach. The return follows a no less beautiful high path. If you prefer a shorter circuit the walk can be adapted to suit any taste.
Starting point: car park after the centre of Campomoro, a pretty bathing resort on the southern tip of the Gulf of Valinco (14km southwest of Propriano, at the end of the D 121).
Height difference: 350m.
Grade: easy, leisurely coastal walk – a short section of scrambling can be avoided by walking round to the side.
Refreshment and accommodation: in Campomoro.
Alternative: from the Cala d’Aguglia to the Cala di Conca (1 hr. one way): walk inland along the path beside the stream. The path crosses the stream after a while and then forks: a hiking path turns left via Manna Mulina to Campomoro, straight on goes over a col (42m) to the Cala d’Arana. From a picnic spot under shady juniper trees the path runs for some minutes straight across the sand, then crosses a ridge and leads over to the fabulous Cala di Conca (Walk 34).
Tip: Campomoro, Cala d’Aguglia and Cala di Conca are visited by excursion boats in the tourist season (from Propriano).
