Le couvent Sant'Antone (monastery of Saint Antoine) is located in Casabianca. Built in 1420, this place has a very important role in Corsican history. It was the seat of numerous meetings of Corsican insurgents, called "consultations". Here is where Pascal Paoli was proclaimed a Naziona Capugenerale di Corsa (commander in chief of the Corsican nation) in 1755, a date that marks the end of the Genoese period. The site is not very well preserved, only the framework structure and the tower remain, but you can still see the beautiful frescoes and decorations that are surprisingly still relatively well preserved.
