Along the GR 20 to the mountain pass overlooking the Cirque de la Solitude
Col Perdu marks the passage from the Asco valley into the Niolu region and offers a marvellous view of the Cirque de la Solitude, one of the most primeval and secluded high mountain valleys on the island. Here, hikers of the GR 20 confront the most arduous stretch of the entire long-distance route, descending 250m only to face a steep ascent to Bocca Minuta.
Starting point: Le Chalet hotel in Haut-Asco, 1422m.
Height difference: 800m.
Grade: easy mountain walk at first, but more demanding at the end.

Alternatives: from Col Perdu, descent into the Viru valley (Walk 68, stretches of scrambling).
