The Calvi Citadel was built in the thirteenth century on a high rocky promontory overlooking the sea in the old town of Calvi. The winding streets, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and the Palace of the Governors, are accessed via an entrance guarded by a drawbridge. The walls of the citadel offer a magnificent view of the town of Calvi and the Mediterranean.
