The Prince Pierre castle is the work of Pierre Bonaparte, son of Lucien Bonaparte, the emperor's brother.
Completed in 1852, it took two years and three hundred men to complete it. Violent and brutal or chivalrous and generous, Pierre Bonaparte was certainly an adventurer. From Europe to America, he traveled, fought and settled in 1848 in Corsica, in Calenzana, where he was elected congressman. He decided to leave Corsica in 1870 and moved to Belgium. He died in 1881 in Versailles.
Today the castle is in ruins, but it still creates an atmosphere full of history as soon as you step into it.
It is located 10 kms southeast of Calvi and it can be reached by the road from Calvi - Porto which runs along the coast.
