Presentation of the estate:
Formerly known as "Surghjenti" for its many springs, the Ortolo valley has been famous for the cultivation of vines since antiquity. It is in this secular land that the Castellu di Baricci takes root. A wine estate which takes its name from the neighboring castle, one of the strongholds of the lords of La Rocca until the beginning of the 16th century. The south-east orientation protects the vineyard from frost and allows it to benefit from exceptional sunshine. The soil which nourishes it is composed of silt and sands, in the heart of the Corsican granite sand territory. Castellu di Baricci is the crazy bet of a family who wanted to reconnect with their close past as winegrowers. Organic farming is synonym with a viticulture that respects the land. Quality takes precedence over quantity, also to limit the load during years with high yields, and green harvests and rigorous disbudding are carried out easily. Castellu di Baricci offers a 100% Vermentino white, vinified in used barrels, a direct pressing rosé which is a blend of Sciaccarello, Cannonao and Nielluccio, and a Sciaccarello and Nielluccio red aged in oak barrels for 18 months. We offer tours of the estate and wine tastings by appointment.
