Panoramic walk to the Genoese tower perched on the red craggy cliffs
The walk to the craggy cliff that falls 300 metres in a sheer drop near the Genoese Turghiu watchtower is one of the most impressive adventures to be found on the island. Hear the crash of the waves on the cliffs far below while enjoying a lovely view sweeping over the Gulf of Porto.
Location: Piana, 440m.
Starting point: starting from the centre of Piana, take the main road D 824 towards the Plage d’Arone; 6km later, at a left-hand bend in the road (snack bar) there is a large car park on the side of the road, at 319m.
Height difference: 500m.
Grade: short and easy walk along well-marked and maintained paths.
Refreshment and accommodation: snack bar at the start; in Piana – restaurants/hotels; campsites on the Plage d’Aro­ne and in Porto.
Tip: visit the beautiful Plage d’Arone by continuing on the D 824 further southwards.
