Joy and sorrow are your constant companions
The disastrous forest fires in the summer of 1990 caused serious damage to this beautiful forest and hiking area south of the Bavella pass. Nevertheless, the walk is enchanting as it passes through the untamed, idyllic landscapes, especially on the ridge near the Bocca di Fumicosa.
Location: Zonza, 778m. Daily bus service to Porto-Vecchio (Walk 49).
Starting point: 5km from Zonza, on the D 268 road leading to Bavella pass and 3.7km before reaching the pass, a forest road with barrier forks to the right (1000m).
Height difference: a good 350m.
Grade: remote route for adventurous walkers – the ascent to Bocca di Fumicosa lacks almost any sign of a path and requires some sense of direction.
Refreshment and accommodation: restaurants, hotels and campsite in ­Zonza.
